Latest news from the GGWAS
GGWAS Barebow team win the Hamilton Shield for the 4th year running |
GGWAS entered 2 teams in the Archery New Zealand Hamilton Shield for 2023 and at the ANZ Nationals it was announced that we had won it for the 4th year running. This was a great achievement for the club and proving that we have the range of talent that can shoot a wide range of styles to a high level. Now I wonder if we can make it 5 in a row.
Mind you we will have to see about making the trophy lighter as it's a bit heavy to keep returning it and bringing it back from the North Island. |
Away team at the ANZ Nationals
|
GGWAS had small team of 2 archers shooting at the 80th Archery New Zealand Nationals over the Easter break. Julia taking on the best around in the Senior Women's Recurve, but having a few issues with this tournament coming away empty handed. Aubrey in only her 2nd major competition in the Women's U16 Recurve event came away with the Silver which is great as she has been shooting less than a year.

Julia Harrison takes Silver at the Oceania CQT
|
On the 16th /17th March Julia shot for New Zealand as part of the Continental Qualifying Tournament in Auckland , shooting against the best that Oceania (minus the Australians) has to offer. She did really well coming up against an in-form Nulia on her home field, settling for Silver in a single arrow shoot off after being 5:1 down. This was top shooting under the conditions and GGWAS are proud of her.
Before hand she is attending an Olympic Solidarity Training seminar as she goes to start her preparations for 2028 in LA - Go Julia. |
