Beginners Course
If you are interested in starting archery, we run Beginner Courses a few times a year.
Venue: At our Society grounds at Catholic Cathedral College, off Ferry Road
- You will have training from qualified and registered ANZ coaches.
- All equipment and coaching is provided.
- The course is suitable from the age of 10 upwards, catering for all abilities.
We run a five session beginners course with a sixth session as a fun shoot together with a mix of club members so that you can get to know us. The duration of each session being approx. 2 1/2 hours, starting at 9:30 am on Sundays.
For more detailed information please contact us.
If the junior is under the age of 14 years, a parent/guardian MUST be present on the Archery field to supervise (this is a weapon based sport) and to ensure safe and controlled coaching at all times. For juniors attending the course proof of age is required in some circumstances.
If you are already an established Archer or have completed an archery beginner course elsewhere, you many not require a full beginners' course. If you are interested in joining our society and have previously shot with your own equipment etc., you will first be assessed by one our our trained coaches over a mornings shooting to just ensure your safety and ability. Please email and we can arrange a time to suit.
For those with a physical disability, a letter from a medical practitioner may be required in later sessions to ensure that the coaching can be matched to what you can do. We are interested in what you can do not what you cannot, and have coaches trained to instruct blind as we well as the physically disadvantages archers, and depending on a minimal level of understanding of safety those with learning issues as well.
