MC Archery
MC Archery would like to offer Archery as an alternative sport in your school. A range of planned sessions from a one-off taster to a full in depth course lasting a term or longer is available flexible to suite your needs, the choice is yours. MC Archery is fully mobile with all the equipment needed for the sport. This enables MC Archery to suit your needs at any location, be it at school or camp.
MC Archery is one person (Maria Tucker), who is qualified as a New Zealand Archery Coach and a member of the Grey Goose Wing Archery Society. Maria has been involved in the sport for over 30 years, coaching students in schools for over 15 years, including Special Needs Schools, and Primary to High Schools. Maria shoots competitive archery for over 25 years and is currently one of the top archers in New Zealand representing the country.
Archers will learn discipline and self control as well as getting the enjoyment of seeing the arrows hit the centre of the target. Archers also get to shoot at other fun stuff such as balloons and posters of various descriptions. Only if space is available, archers also get the chance to shoot arrows as far as possible.
On top of the students learning on how to shoot there is also an Inter-School Competition, run by Archery New Zealand, this can be entered each term. The purpose of this event is to allow individuals and school teams throughout the country, regardless of location, to compete against one another in friendly competition. This is shot on site.
Archery is a sport that is truly a 'Sport for All', with able bodied and disabled Archers placed side by side on the shooting line whatever the age, ability or gender. Archery is a sport for the individual and team events. It is especially ideal for those that do not perform well in other demanding sports, such as Netball and Rugby. In short, you do not run or need to be physically fit to do Archery, it is all down to good technique and practice.
Sessions can be arranged at your own school indoor or outdoor venue, subject to a safety review.
